If you spend any time around me at all, you’ll hear about my favorite non-profit, The Cooperative Ministry. Each year, the hard working staff and huge volunteer base come together to feed, clothe and empower residents struggling with poverty right here in the Columbia area.
Book Festival to Benefit The Cooperative Ministry This August
That eclipse may be making all the headlines, but mark your calander for this once in a lifetime local event, happening on August 26th. Sponsored by one of The Cooperative Ministry’s board members and with all proceeds going to this worthy cause, the festival has a lineup of rare, vintage and collectible books you won’t want to miss.
Seriously, folks are prying open their vaults and parting with tomes they love, all for a great cause. Many of the books are from private collections and are specific to our area; published in small numbers, these texts are highly sought after by collectors and scholars.
I’m most excited about the collection of children’s books and the guest author appearances, but there will be something there for every reader and collector.
I wrote up a piece for The Cooperative Ministry blog — hop on over and check out the details…and see what this amazing organization is up to, too!
